Children & Youth

Nursery is available every Sunday downstairs in the Parish House from 10 am until the conclusion of the service.  Children’s Church is offered upstairs, beginning at 10:30.  The children will join their parents in the “big” church to celebrate Communion.

Holy Cross Faith Memorial offers a growing list of youth programs to engage all your young family members. Here’s a list of our current offerings:

Sunday School Classes

Faith Formation: Prepare, Receive, Respond
Faith formation prepares our children and young people to receive the word of God.  Figuring out how to respond is often more difficult since there is more than one way to respond to God.  The Dept. of Faith Formation utilizes programs that tell the stories of our faith and where/how we fit in as we explore, together, ways to respond when God calls us.

Godly Play…I wonder?  (Age 3 through 2nd grade)

Sundays 9:15 am @ Parish House (Upstairs)

Uses the Montessori method to share the stories and embrace the mysteries that shape our faith.  To know who we are as God’s people, we must first know our story – God’s story.  The stories are told using materials allowing children to see and hear them unfold before them and touch the stories, too.  After the stories are told, the group wonders together about the story – I wonder, can anything be left out and we still have what we need?  I wonder, were you in the story?

Whole People of God  (3rd Grade and Older)

Sundays 9:15 am @ Parish House (Upstairs)

The Whole People of God is lectionary based and grounded in tradition.  It is a nice follow-up to Godly Play because the lessons further explore the stories of our faith.  How do we live out our faith?  What does being a follower of Christ really mean to me?  Am I a builder in the kingdom of God?  The lessons are flexible, engaging and challenging and use fun activities (games & art) to further explore the theme.

Youth Sundays

Young people help with the 10:30 am service on 5th Sundays of the month. On these special Sundays, the 10:30 am service features our young people. The youth serve as greeter, ushers, and layreaders.  All children and young people are invited to participate in the service in some manner.  We hope to see you there!
