Faith Formation: Prepare, Receive, Respond

Faith formation prepares our children and young people to receive the word of God.  Figuring out how to respond is often more difficult since there is more than one way to respond to God.  The Dept. of Faith Formation utilizes programs that tell the stories of our faith and where/how we fit in as we explore, together, ways to respond when God calls us.

Confirm, not Conform— In preparation for Confirmation, HCFM will be offering Confirm, not Conform classes. Confirm not Conform (CnC) is focused on helping young people ask tough questions and search out the answers. Through innovative sessions, field trips, mentor relationships, and the challenge to do a whole lot more than just learn a few facts, CnC lets youth take real responsibility for understanding their faith and its power. When they do—when they see the church and faith as something that truly belongs to them—it builds a bond that lasts. CnC will meet every other Sunday starting on August 30th, culminating with Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday, May 15th, 2016.

Children’s Church – Children’s Church is a weekly program beginning on September 6th for youth in 1st through 5th grade offering an age-appropriate interpretation of each Sunday’s message. Children’s Church will take place during the 10:30am service in the parlor of Holy Cross. The children will join their parents in the “big” church to celebrate Communion.

Youth Sundays – On these special Sundays our 10:30 am service features our young people.  The youth serve as greeters, ushers, readers and more.  All children and youth are invited and encouraged to participate in the service.

Nursery is available every Sunday downstairs in the Parish House from 10 am until the conclusion of the service.  The children will join their parents in the “big” church to celebrate Communion.

Vacation Bible School – This week long event held during the summer months will find children and adults imagining, building, growing, working and walking with God in an exciting week of creativity and fellowship.
